If you enjoy a round of golf there are two courses on Skye.
The beautiful seaside course looks out seawards towards the Isle of Raasay and inland towards the Red Cuillin mountains. Most of the nine greens have an alternative tee, giving a different approach and length second time around. They are open all year and welcome golfers of all ages and abilities.
It is thought to be the only golf course in the world to have its holes named in Gaelic. If you look through the hole guide, on their website, you can find the names and what they mean, or what their significance is for the hole bearing the name. The golf course is set in the grounds of Skeabost House Hotel. A parkland course, Skeabost is popular with locals and visitors alike. Although only a short course, the nine holes present a few tricky problems. The shortest hole on the course is the 4th, the “Glory Hole”. It may only be 91 yards but the green is well protected by bunkers and there are trees lurking at the back so accuracy is essential. The course was constructed on the site of a mortal feud between the MacDonalds and the MacLeods but we trust your experience at Skeabost will be more peaceful.
